Hello, thanks for your mail, they are still available to any one prepared to provide them with enough care and love, where they will be well spoil with all their need.the monkey are 12weeks old and has very good temperament and other pets, very playful love to play around with toys and kids, the monkey are DNA test registered, vet checked and will be coming along side with health papers and vet records.their names are Lulu and Lucy..the reason why i am selling them is because working hours are too much for me and it gives me no time to take care of them since i find my new job at the university in central Victoria Cameroon the parents of this monkey was shipped to me from Canada and the sender is in Ontario... i decide to give them out to any family where they will be well taken care of and treated them like their own kids too.and since you are interested in buying 1,i am willing to give to you but you have to first assure me that you will take good care of it and that you will send some monthly pics to me so that i can see how the monkey is doing with you in it new home.I am located Victoria Cameroon and where are you located how soon do you need he/her the male is called Lulu and the female Lucy which of the monkeys are you interest in..each monkey cost $400.00 as you see on my advert. Please may i ask you some few questions?do you have kids?are you a breeder?do you have other pets?where do you live?how soon do you want he/her?are you sure that you will really take good care of the monkey?i hope you will love the monkey.i will be waiting for your mail asap.As for the pics you will get back so i attach them to you Ok.

By this time, we were fully aware of the Cameroon scams out there, and also aware that Jean Dawson is listed in the Master Scammers Email List on another blog here at Blogspot (wish I knew how to link to that site and such, but relatively new to blogging)......... so anyway, we sent this short but to the point email back.....or so we thought it was to the point......

Sorry, thought yet again this was a rebutable. The information you provided was enough already, as we are educated americans, you do not meet the requirements necessary for us to do business with you. Thanks, Donna

Maybe they got confused due to the misspelling of 'reputable'...........

Hello thank for getting back in regarding the monkey both me and my husband believe in faith that this monkey will find a loving and caring home with you and in your home our monkey are 12weeks old, so we are to transport the monkey to you ok and we will need the following information to register the monkey at the delivery company.we are going to miss them but still want the best for the monkey since there are not feeling comfortable living alone at home with no one around them. what can really make me convince you will take proper care for this monkey also please can you can afford the $400 because we are going to register the monkey under your name at the delivery company once you provide us your shipping information right.Full Names......Country.........City.........Phone Number.....Zip Code.......House Address.....The Name of the closes airport in your location? When i have the above mention information my husband will take your monkey to the delivery company and register the monkey flight into your location we promise to ship you this monkey as soon as you work with us and the monkey will come along with the mentionable as follow Blanket,Food Menu...Playing Toys..Health papers.attach is the pictures right. Waiting to read back from you A.S.A.P

Ok, we just figured this person decided to try to keep us on the hook, thinking they had a real live one...... thought it was kind of interesting they wanted to know if we could afford the monkey...if we couldn't afford a monkey, why in the Hell would we be answering an ad for one?

Oh, yes, absolutely we can afford the money, and as per our last email, we thought it was a reputable advertisment for a monkey (silly us!). The problem is we are not into responding to scams.....and this is one. It is illegal to ship any primate for pet purposes into the US....no matter if it is from Cameroon, Canada or any other country. Period. If you actually planned to ship the monkey(if you indeed even have a monkey) into the US, it is seized and destroyed...and we are not into the senseless killing of any animal just so someone can get money from unsuspecting persons who are gullible to these types of scams. Thank you for your time, but no thank you.
Donna

Figured this email was too the point to....but hold on to your hats Ladies and Gentlemen......

Hello,

As assurance, the first thing i will tell you is we do all things on trust, you trust me and i trust you too.I can assure you i will have the puppy been shipped to you and they will deliver the puppy right at the nearest airport in your location.Well, before I put the puppies ad for adoption,I havealready obtained a legal Cites Export Permit from the Ministry of Livestock Fishery and Animal Husbandry here to shipping out the dogs.I think this will be as a clear Proof that what Am doing is legal and transparent. So you are to have all my full address that you can take any legal action to me if i get your money and don't send you the puppies. If i want to rip or get money from a person i will not be taking $400.00 that can bring done my reputation right that is too small,i am a Catholic christened and i can't get your money and don't send you the puppy okay, where is my faith,As God said do unto to orders if the do unto you are going to be happy,so i don't want a bad luck that can bring me done and my family or my next generation.so all is on trust.should i give you my WESTERN UNION address for you to get the payment so i can reserve a flight ticket for your baby to be shipped. Best regard.

Ok...first things first.....The Ministry of Livestock, Fishery and Animal Husbandry deals with fish and livestock. They have nothing to do with 'puppies'. I do not know if the Ministry deals with the breeding and sale of exotic animals, but I would bet my left nut they don't.....Secondly, when in the Sam Hill did I request information regarding a puppy????.........So I replied once again, out of sheer meanness......

Whoops! Silly us.....we thought this was an advertisment for a 'monkey' not a 'puppy'!

I pretty much thought that would be the end of this scammers correspondance.......but wait!!....they have an answer for everything!!!!.......

hello sorry it was my brother who reply you not me because he also have a little Bulldog puppy for sale so it was a big mistake he made please we are very sorry for the mistake Ok.

Riiigghhtt.........although we have mainly been dealing with monkeys, it is also apparent that these Cameroon scammers are trying to sell you anything....bull dog puppies, chihuahua puppies, yorkies are also big along with teacup poodles....I saw an ad for a Palomino horse that only needed 'a romp through a house or apartment for excersize' (being horse owners ourselves, that would be a complete mess of your home folks, believe us!) They also try to sell you antiques such as rare and expensive antique bookends....probably a couple of bricks painted in whatever garrish colors they can come up with. So Buyer Beware!!! NEVER send ANY money whatsoever to anyone in Cameroon.....every ad coming out of this country is a SCAM!!!!!

Ok...our first clue should have been all the misspellings in this email....and/or all the bad use of the English language...but as I said, we weren't educated to scams like this at this time.....

To: clara reeds Sent: Thursday, April 3, 2008 4:06:12 AMSubject: Re: free lovely capuchin baby for adoption
Hi, the pictures of Pearly are so adorable. We too are pet lover's...we live on a horse farm, out in the country, on the banks of a small river and also have small dogs, that are well behaved. The closest airport to my location is XXX North Carolina, USA. Could you please send us info asap so that we may decide if this is going to work out for everyone involved. I have wanted a monkey since I was a child. I am female, now 37, raising my youngest sibling, and have been in a commmitted relationship with another lady for almost nine years. We have decided we would rather raise a monkey together than a child, lol..We both look forward to hearing from you...Thanks Again...Donna

Hi Clara and Gerald,

The more we see of Pearly, the more adorable she is!! We just have a few questions for you....how long would the trip be? How do we finalize arrangements? We are very cautious due to the information we have read on the internet about scams involving purchasing monkies and we do not want to be heartbroken. Our home phone number is xxx-xxx-xxxx and you may also contact us at a cell number xxx-xxx-xxxx. Please ask for Donna or Dee...We are greatly anticipating your call, anytime this evening. We also have more questions regarding her care during shipping...we do not want Pearly to be traumatized or to suffer in any way (mainly we don't want her to become hungry during her trip!). Once again, we are eagerly awaiting your call. Thank you for your quick correspondance with us!
Donna and Dee

Rereading these emails pisses me off.....the fact that not only were we so uneducated to these scams, but that people like these not only takes advantage of unsuspecting people.......how can someone take a pet they suposedly loves and exploit it like this to make a buck? Anyhoo....since they had our phone number, we were contacted almost immediately by the person portraying 'Gerald'. You could barely understand him on the phone due to his thick Nigerian accent, although claimed to be from South Africa....I have a very good friend who is from South Africa and can understand him completely. Anyway, he was so persistant that Pearly would be shipped from Cameroon to Vancouver, Canada then into the US. We told him to call us back in about an hour and a half. Meanwhile, we had started finding all sorts of information regarding shipping non-human primates into the US....illegal period, from any country. When we talked to Gerald again, he assured us it could be done, and that to prove good faith, we could wire him via Western Union or Moneygram only half the money, then the other half when we received Pearly. Yeah....as you can see by the next email from "Clara" we did not respond the them for a while......

From: clara reeds clarareeds@yahoo.com>To: Donna Sent: Saturday, April 5, 2008 4:22:55 AMSubject: Re: free lovely capuchin baby for adoption
Hi Dona, havent heard from you.hope you and Dee are doing pretty fine.Gerald told me he spoke with you while i was asleep two days ago.Well yesterday we were so busy making flight arrangements and a delivery for Canada.please we just wish to find out what step are we proceeding in or whether you prefer Gerald to ring you sometime later today.please kindly get backregardsClara

Few more questions.....why is it always "Clara" that emails, although "Gerald" says he is the one checking all emails and responding. By the way, he stated his telephone was located upstairs in their home, and that their computer room is located in the basement, and due to time change, we could only call around a certain time, as he might not be upstairs to answer the phone until that time....why not, Gerald, too busy checking all your other potential victims? Don't want a phone call from one while talking to another? So anyway, my girlfriend Dee decided to give them the clue that we had started educating ourselves, but didn't give away the fact that we had found Clara Reed's email address listed on a scam list......

Clara and Gerald,
Hello...This is Dee. I am sorry that we have not been in touch with you regarding Pearly. I have really fallen in love with that little girl, and wish that I could have her with me to love and spoil to bits. Unfortunately, I have been looking at the United States Government websites and the Center for Disease Control websites, and quite honestly, they both say that non human primates (monkeys) are not allowed to be imported into the US as pets for any reason.....period. I know that the both of you have assured Donna and I that we will get Pearly for half the money for shipping now, and half on arrival of Pearly, but that is still alot of money to wire you without a rock solid gaurantee that we would receive Pearly. I would hate to think that she would be impounded at any type of customs, and not be allowed into our loving home. I know that Gerald has assured us this is not a scam in any way, but what rock solid evidence do we have? If I knew for 100% that Pearly would not be impounded or that we would even receive her at all, then I might change my mind. I do not want to go through the heartache of thinking I am getting Pearly and she never shows up. If you have any solutions, we both would be willing to talk to you (but we are going out this evening). Waiting to hear from you again....
Donna and Dee

That email was sent last night, April 5th. We got home with no reply on our email page. Then bright and early this morning, April 6th we had a message.....

From: clara reeds Sent: Sunday, April 6, 2008 5:01:06 AMSubject: Pearly
Hello Dee,thanks for your mail.okay Gerald will call you later today as soon as we are back from Church.regardsClara

I believe this was the final straw for me. I could not even comprehend speaking with that man again as mad as I was at this point. So I just sent this.......

I sincerely suggest you check out the following information, if indeed you are shipping primates into the United States, you are committing a felony and subject to full prosecution under United States law.
The Captive Primate Safety Act (S. 1498/H.R. 2964) prohibits interstate and foreign commerce in primates as pets.
Further information.....
http://www.wwfus.org/trade/faqs_primate.cfm

You should be very aware of this,..and I am quite sure that you are.
Perhaps you should also understand that any further attempt to contact us via telephone will be recorded, documented as a solicit for nonhuman primates, and turned over to all the proper authorities.(we anxiously await to hear from you)

While we have decided to find a reputable person to deal with in the United States, I find it sad that unsuspecting people worldwide are scammed daily in their pursuits of furfilling their life long dream of owning or adopting a monkey.

P.s. Hope things went well at church and you both saids lots of prayers
Educated Americans,
Donna and Dee

Needless to say, we haven't heard from Clara or Gerald....and I don't think we will. On another note, we found a picture of a darling little capuchin female on the Internet, for adoption, named "Niki". It seemed odd that the woman feeding the monkey it's bottle had on the exact same bath robe that "Clara" had on in a picture she sent us of "Pearly"......and I must say, she really needs to change her nail polish between scam photos too........but we haven't heard from that advertisment....we will let you know if we do........
